Chief Risk Officer
Paul Bowers joined Equity Financial Trust Company in February of 2014. As Chief Risk Officer, he is responsible for identifying, quantifying, mitigating and reporting the key risks that Equity faces in its day-to-day operations. These risks include capital adequacy, credit, liquidity, interest rate, operational, compliance/governance, reputation, and regulatory. He reports to the Chair of the Risk and Capital Committee of the Board, but works closely with other members of the executive and management teams.
Paul has over 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry in risk management, regulation, lending, and restructuring and insolvency. Prior to joining EFTC, Paul served as SVP, Credit & Origination with Trez Capital Corporation, and Chief Risk Officer with MCAN Mortgage Corporation. He has also held various positions with the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) and TD Bank Financial Group.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Commerce & Economics from the University of Toronto, and an FICB designation from the Institute of Canadian Bankers.
